Margaret's Cottage B&B
We've always had charm, character and elegance. Now we're also making sure you have the peace of mind to enjoy your stay with us, and that you have nothing to worry about except making wonderful memories. Comprehensive social distancing measures in place. Revised sanitised cleaning procedures in line with Hospitality Ulster guidelines. Removed items that cannot be cleaned to our rigorous standards.

Provided dedicated handwash areas with hand sanitiser and disposable towels. All en-suite rooms for privacy and comfort. We are restricting the use of this bedroom by our guests, to enable safe social distancing and to ensure no more than four overnight guests in the house. Just returned from our 3rd visit to Margaret's Cottage. We really can't thank Ciara and her little helper enough for our wonderful experience.

Breakfasts are absolutely superb using top quality locally sourced produce. Not to mention the abundance of home baking that is on offer for all guests to enjoy in the afternoons and evenings, everything you can wish for and much much more.
Services
The 15th Century tower house of 'Margaret's Castle' is actually attached to our cottage - hence its name.
Walk through our 'always-open' black stable door and you'll be forgiven for thinking you've fallen down the rabbit hole.
Ardglass has seven castles, including four medieval tower houses, more than any other town in Ireland, which reflects its importance as Ulster's busiest port in the 15th century.
In 2015 we swapped our busy life in Northumberland to move back home to County Down and begin the work of transforming Margaret's Cottage into a beautiful place for guests to stay.
Snuggle up in one of three luxurious bedrooms, 'Inis Fraoigh', 'Inis Deala' or 'Inis Mor, ' - named after Ireland's beautiful islands.
This comfortable, luxurious room contains a king-size bed and a modern ensuite shower room.
Built in the oldest part of the cottage, Inis Fraoigh opens onto a colourful, private courtyard, laden with pots of geraniums and sweet pea in the summer, where you can enjoy the sun and relax.
This decision has created a dedicated cloakroom for all house-guests and visitors to wash their hands upon arrival.
You don't have to stay with us to enjoy our warm Irish hospitality.
Now famous locally, our Afternoon Teas are the perfect way for small groups to get together in our private drawing room, overlooking the sea.
In fact, we've also hosted birthday, anniversary and special occasion teas too.
For your comfort and safety, we've adapted our spacious drawing room to accommodate parties of up to four people for Afternoon Tea, enabling safe social distancing with a delicious twist.
Booking in advance is essential as we bake just for you.
We think breakfast is the most important meal of the day and that's why we serve it upstairs, in the drawing room, overlooking the lush links of Ardglass Golf Club.
Fill up on Auntie Aveen's home-baked breads or get tips on that tricky 2nd 'Howd's Hole' over an Ulster Fry - made from free range eggs from down the road.
Indulge in delicious locally smoked salmon with bagels before some sightseeing or warm the cockles of your heart with a big mug of hot chocolate before a stroll along the harbour.
Tee off at Ardglass Golf Course, one of the world's most spectacular links.
Historic, dramatic, epic - this challenging course with its 14th Century Castle Clubhouse and stunning sea views certainly gives Royal County Down a run for its money.
And the best bit?
It's just across the road from Margaret's Cottage!
There are fishing and angling clubs galore along these shores.
None better than a little spot right behind Ardglass Golf Course where the waters brim with cod, pollock, mackerel, flounder, dab and bass.
