Welcome to Lapwings Barn/Curlew Quarters, Bed and Breakfast Suite Accommodation in Whinfell, near Kendal, Cumbria. Situated in the small hamlet of Whinfell, near Kendal in Cumbria, Lapwings Barn enjoys an idyllic location on the edge of the Lake District. The bed and breakfast accommodation suits those interested in walking, birdwatching or those touring who require a peaceful place to relax.
There are many long and short walks from the barn. Access to The Dale's Way is about half a mile away. A half hour drive takes you to Windermere on to Ambleside and many other attractions and activities. Whinfell Cairn is a good walk from the accommodation, 1 1/2-2 hrs to the top from the barn at a slow pace, and considerably quicker coming down! You can return to sit out on the balcony with a cup of tea, look up at Whinfell and marvel at what you achieved.
It is a very quiet location despite its proximity to Kendal. There are beautiful fell views from Lapwings towards Selside with pine-woodland and bracken.

The bedroom (downstairs) can be prepared for twin or double occupancy (please specify requirements) the en-suite bathroom comprises Mira thermostatic electric shower with glass screen, basin, WC and heated towel rail.
The living room is upstairs to take advantage of the views, it has original exposed beams, patio doors leading onto a large balcony.
Provided for your comfort in living room are a colour TV and log-burning stove, logs are provided during your stay.

From the M6 Junction 36 take the duel carriageway to Kendal NORTH exit.
You will come down a large hill to a large roundabout, take the last turn into Kendal, (beware there is a give-way section on the roundabout).
Once in Kendal at the foot of the hill keep left towards Appleby/A6.
You will drive over the river (in town) pass the railway station on the left, the railway bridge goes over the road.
Continue along the A6 until you see Morrison's Supermarket (nearest cash point) on your right, turn right and drive between Morrison and Aldi, pass Morrison's Petrol station on your left, and turn left onto the A685 towards Appleby, only for 500m, you will see a signpost to the left marked Mealbank, Patton and Whinfell.
You will come down a large hill to a large roundabout, take the last turn into Kendal, (beware there is a give-way section on the roundabout).
