Welcoming bed and breakfasts, interesting hotels with fine food, and good self-catering holiday cottages. Some are in ancient castles, some modern, some traditional, some in Edinburgh or St Andrews and some as remote as you can find. The question we ask ourselves is, "If you'd saved for a trip of a lifetime and had travelled 4000 miles to visit Scotland, would your stay be memorable and inspiring, and would you go home with happy memories of Scottish hospitality?"

All the properties are independently owned, and you can contact the owners directly from the each page.
Services
Martin Notcutt who helps with the day to day running of the site.
Canvas Host who run and maintain our server which is powered by wind.
We also work with Ecosse Unique, the long-established holiday cottage agency also based in the Scottish Borders.
Mark Breed and his team visit all their rental cottages and we feature them on About Scotland.
We are not an agency and we take no commission; all bookings and transactions are between owners and guests.
As much as possible we try to visit every property, meet the owners, take our own photographs and write the web page ourselves - for consistency and a sense of objectivity.
Many have asked us to suggest an independent self-guided 7 - 14 day route which would take in some of the best of Scotland.
There are many good things to see along the way, and of course you can take detours off to explore the others, depending on how much time you have.
And if you would like to be shown around the castles and gardens of Argyll, the West Coast Highlands we recommend Andrew Gray, The Master of Gray.
If you would like a guide to accompany you on your tour we recommend Margot McMurdo, fully qualified Scottish Tour Guide based near Edinburgh.
