You are guaranteed a warm welcome at Church Hill House, a 500 year old Tudor guest house in the centre of an attractive village, situated in the rolling countryside on the Essex-Suffolk border. The house is listed grade 2 and heavily beamed, yet providing two comfortable en-suite double bedrooms, one with an adjoining single - ideal for a family with a child and another with a four-poster bed.

We are situated conveniently for the market towns of Braintree, Halstead, Saffron Walden and Sudbury and within easy reach of Cambridge, Colchester and Bury St Edmunds. The famously attractive village of Finchingfield is within 2 miles and Thaxted, 'home' of Gustav Holst and Dick Turpin, 5 miles away. The house is in the centre of Wethersfield, at the edge of the village Green and directly opposite the historic Parish Church.

For walkers, there are some attractive rambles starting in Wethersfield and the River Pant is only 5 minutes away. For lunches and evening meals there are several restaurant and pubs within a short drive or bike ride from Church Hill House.
Services
THE Oak Suite comprises a large beamed room with vaulted oak beamed ceiling and exposed kingposts.
Both bedroom and en-suite bathroom are comfortably roomy.
The bedroom is equipped with a very comfortable king-size four poster bed, bed-side cabinets with lamps and a built-in wardrobe.
High quality bedding is standard.
The Oak Suite overlooks the attractive walled garden at the rear of the house and is very quiet.
Both bedroom and bathroom are centrally heated and an electric underblanket is fitted to warm the bed prior to occupancy!
It is thus ideal for a couple with one child, although this suite is equally available for a single or twin let as required.
The French bed has a 'ciel de lit' with voile drapes.
Tudor is at the front of the house with a view of the Parish Church.
Secondary glazing gives protection from any noise, and blackout curtains are fitted, as the windows are South facing.
Facilities include a flat screen Freeview television and radio in each room, a built-in wardrobe, dressing table, writing desk, central heating, tea and coffee making facilities and electric underblankets.
We always provide a bowl of freshly prepared fruit for starters and then you may select from a full breakfast menu to follow.
Of course, a full English is the favourite, but we cater for all requirements, including vegetarian.
All ingredients are locally sourced, with eggs from a nearby farm and bacon and sausages from the local prize-winning butcher.
Details of recommended places to eat are included in an information folder to be found in your room.

In 2012 Visit England removed all B&Bs from their web site and outsourced responsibility for quality assessment to G4S.
Thus Visit England ceased being a shop window for UK or overseas visitors wanting B & B accommodation.
We do not agree with this change of policy and so, after being accredited by Visit England/Britain for 9 years with four stars and 4 years as Gold Award, we left the scheme in 2012.
However we strive to maintain and indeed improve on the 4 star gold standards we achieved.
