I have been privileged to own Duncraig Castle since 2009. For most of the following 11 years I have overseen the monumental project of renovating the entire property. Now complete, I very much look forward to welcoming you to my family home. A spectacular Highland castle built in 1866 located in beautiful wooded grounds in a stunning coastal setting overlooking Plockton, Loch Carron and the Applecross Peninsula.

After an extensive renovation, the Castle has been carefully restored and will open again offering Bed and Breakfast accommodation and Wedding Venue. All guest rooms have glorious views and have been carefully designed to ensure you have a fabulous stay. Join us for breakfast by the open fire in Sir Alexander Matheson's grand dining room or you may prefer to be seated outside on our outdoor patio.

Electric bikes are available to guests staying at the castle - a great way to explore the local area. The picturesque village of Plockton is three miles from Duncraig Castle. The dramatic Highland setting, framing the rows of pretty cottages and boats at anchor, make Plockton a popular destination for artists, walkers and those just looking to get away from it all.

Find a spot on the pier in the village of Plockton, choose a line with a small net and a weight attached.
Inside the net put a small off cut of bacon for bait, drop your line in the water and wait.
After a few minutes the crabs will hold onto the net and thats the time to pull the line up.
If you have a bucket of water handy to drop your crabs into so you can observe their quirky antics then carefully place them back into the water.

Regular live traditional music is played during the summer months.
Situated on the waterfront in the village of Plockton, The Plockton Hotel is well known for it's seafood and local fare.
The active waterfront beer garden which overlooks the bay and mountains is the perfect place to sit and relax.
A lovely intimate restaurant on the waterfront in Plockton boasts local produce and seafood caught daily.
The diverse flora and fauna always provide something to see all year round.
Red Deer are often seen roaming the Highlands and a mature male with a full set of antlers is a magnificent sight.
Seals are regularly seen swimming in the loch and sunbathing on the rocks.
Otters and pine marten may also be seen if you are one of the lucky ones!
Red squirels have recently been reintroduced to the local woodland and have been frequently spotted.
The famous hairy Heilan coos can be often be seen roaming freely in the pretty village of Duirnish.
Stand up paddle board is the perfect way to explore the coastline of Scotland, once stood up you are at the best place to enjoy the beautiful landscape and the sea wildlife above and below you.
Beginners stand up paddle board courses are for everyone, whether you've never been on the water or a seasoned paddler, we will tailor the course to fit your needs and wants once you have booked.
Family Stand up paddle board sessions are taylor made for families with children under 12 years old, these sessions are at a slower base, as some time younger children struggle to paddle the boards, so we spend more time playing games, having fun getting as wet as possible (sorry parents).
