Whether it be Weddings, Birthdays, Wedding Anniversaries, Staff Parties, Family Farewells or Homecoming Parties or even the loss of a loved one. The Winslow Hotel is the most iconic pub in Everton's history, it has been an integral part of Evertonians matchday ritual since the first ball was kicked at Goodison in 1892. Although long-cherished by Everton supporters as a matchday watering hole, The Winslow predates Goodison The Grand old lady of Football by 6 years.
We took over the property in 2014 and set about aiming to surpass its glory days of old. Months of restoration and refurbishment followed and work on the ground floor took place. Some wonderful murals and canvas paintings were produced by local artist Thomas Regan of Toffee Art. Dave Bond, an Evertonian since childhood, came over from Ireland to manage the business.
This date significantly coincides with the death of Everton Legend Dixie Dean who died on the same date in 1980 whilst at the Merseyside derby at Goodison. Dixie's iconic image has adorned the outside sign for decades.
