Andy and Michele purchased the land at Run Cottage in 1998 to build a family home, having lived at the opposite end of the village for a number of years, we knew of the old derelict cottages that were there but the whole site was so overgrown with trees and brush we didn't know how much land came with it, it turned out the cottages stood on 1 acre of land.
The cottages themselves got their name from the river run (more of a stream) that runs along the northern boundary, the land more recently was used as grazing pasture and willow production for making cricket bats, the local farm still grows some willow on neighbouring fields.
Mostly grass setting, the hardstandings which we wanted were fewer in number and from a commercial viewpoint they give these to long bookings and seasonal pitches.
It was really really wet, but their ground is really good draining, which due entirely to the quality of infrastructure that the whole place demonstrates.
The toilet decoration is well above the often clinical and functional norm, which makes it more like a home than a campsite.
This is the first year wardens have been employed, and the owners struck gold with the couple they have, the jolliest most positive chap I've seen on a site with an equally friendly wife.

The richest burial ever discovered in Britain; an Anglo-Saxon ship containing the treasure of one of the earliest English Kings.
We are the nearest park to the popular Sutton Hoo visitor centre.
Then we have two very different castles in two very different towns.
Orford was built on the coast in the 12th century.
It's single remarkable tower with no less than 21 sides is unique in Britain.
Framlingham Castle has 12 hollow towers connected by a large curtain wall, 13m high and 2.5m thick.
Standing on the Suffolk coast, Orford Castle built by King Henry II in the mid to late 12th century was positioned to ward off the threat of coastal invasions.
