The Denes
Chris and Lesley retired from their careers in Education to take on the Denes, a popular, well-situated guest house. Chris is a former Biology teacher whose passion for the sea drew him to this coastal retreat. I strive to deliver good-quality, home-cooked food and believe wholeheartedly in the use of locally-sourced products wherever possible. The Denes provides me with an opportunity to meet people from all over the world and to share experiences in a relaxing and calm environment.

Lesley, is the creative brain behind the decor at The Denes. Her passion for crafts is present in the evolving decor. I love the organic lines of the botanical artwork from the Art Nouveau Period. The Macintosh Rose is a particular favourite, which you will see in the wall hangings and cross-stitch on some of the walls. Fortuitously, my fascination with all things Art Nouveau ties in with the Edwardian Period when the Denes was constructed.

Please be aware that The Denes is also home to Uggie, a cat who adopted us when she was abandoned by her owners.

Lynton is situated on the North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, within Exmoor National Park.
The park has the added distinction of being designated the first International Dark Sky Reserve in Europe.
One of North Devons most renowned landmarks - and almost literally on The Denes' doorstep - is the Valley of Rocks.
This dry valley runs parallel to the North Devon coast and is noted for the spectacular geological formations, its wild goats and its stunning views.
Walk across the road from The Denes, after 20 minutes you will find yourself at an Iron Age hill fort with stunning views along the coast to the east and west.
The Denes Guest House can be accessed from Longmead Road at the front or from the car park to the rear of the property.
There are no parking restrictions for dropping off at The Denes and guests should either use our car park (4 cars) or the layby 30m along the road.
The front gate is 900mm wide with a 130mm step on to a 1m wide by 11.5m long gravel path to the front conservatory door.
From the car park there is a wicket gate to the rear garden, with two steps down, 180mm & 80mm respectively.
The 600 mm by 7.8m paving slab path reaches the rear conservatory door that has a maximum opening of 600mm and is immediately preceded by a shallow gully.
