Rod Taylor, a Sand Grown'un (Morecambe born) and Karen Taylor, both passionate about the town, were delighted to find this local development opportunity. Amy (daughter) and Dan Winward (the Licensees) who manage the hotel also managed the renovation and refurbishment. Val King, a lifelong resident of Morecambe and a family member, has relished her role in bringing the project to life.
Now key to providing the quality service, attention to detail and excellence, her role is as Front of House Manager. Even before Morecambe existed, The Morecambe Hotel plied it's trade in the fishing village of Poulton. This 1828 coaching inn took it's name from Morecambe Bay and served the growing numbers of tourists and traders visiting the area.
The drivers of local prosperity then were the developing road, canal, maritime trade, railway links. Latterly, the trend continues with the Heysham M6 Link Road, designed to improve access to this vibrant and beautiful area.
