The Old Vicarage Bed & Breakfast
A warm welcome will always await you at the Old Vicarage Bed and Breakfast in Kenton, Exeter. The house - built in 1812 - is a fine regency rectory in the heart of the friendly Devon village of Kenton, which boasts not only a fine local pub but two marvellous restaurants and is the location of Powderham Castle. Stay with us and you will be in striking distance of the fine old city of Exeter, the birdlife of the Exe Estuary and the picturesque coastal resorts of Dawlish and Teignmouth - all reachable by regular buses.

A short drive and you may sample the wild spaces of Dartmoor or the charming towns of Totnes, Topsham and Dartmouth. The house is set in its own grounds, in which there is ample parking space. As we offer only two rooms for bed and breakfast, you can expect individual service and a quiet stay: not the boarding house experience! We are now also pleased to offer a self-contained 3-bedroom holiday cottage, for those who prefer self-catering.

It sleeps up to six people and has its own small garden where you can barbecue and sit outside.
Services
For a delightful and relaxing stay, the Old Vicarage offers two rooms as bed and breakfast accommodation: the amethyst room and the camomile room.
Normal arrival time is between 4.00pm and 6.00pm.
If you are going to arrive outside of those hours, it will not normally be a problem, but please let us know by phone or email to make sure we will be here to greet you.
One of the two rooms is a double bedroom, with a king-sized bed; the other is also a double but can be either king or twin.
Each room is furnished with a wardrobe, bedside tables, a chair and a table.
If you are arriving from the north, take the A379 signposted Dawlish.
After four miles, you will see the Kenton village sign followed by a 30mph sign.
Ignore the first little road on the right, but turn into the second little road on the right, Torrington Place, which is signposted.
The Old Vicarage is the very first house on the left: drive into the double gates and park in front of the wall facing you.
If you are coming from the south, go through the village and take the first little road on the left after the Rodean Restaurant.
Kenton is a small village on the A379 halfway between Exeter and Dawlish.
For such a small village it boasts a magnificent church, a village shop and post office, two hairdressers, and no fewer than three eating places: the Rodean, the Dolphin, and Chi's.
The Rodean is a truly superb restaurant offering Anglo-French dishes of the highest order; the Dolphin is a great example of the local village pub offering traditional British pub grub at very reasonable prices; and Chi's is an up-market Chinese/Thai bar and restaurant offering delicious oriental dishes.
Had a one night stopover - What a charming house, Bob and Jane are great hosts, lovely welcome of homemade scones and jam and cream.
Room very comfortable with ensuite, peaceful night and a delicious breakfast - highly recommend.
Had a great stay at B&B, lovely house, bedroom and bathroom spotless.
Annie was a brilliant host nothing too much trouble, an all rounder with a great sense of fun.
Her breakfasts were the best I've had on an overnight stay, even at 6.30 in morning.
Thank you dear Annie, we will be back!
Guests have had most fun at the Old Vicarage when they have booked the whole house for a three night weekend.
We have had wedding groups, birthday and anniversary celebrations.
We turn Vicarage Cottage and the Old Vicarage back into one house.
This offers five bedrooms and three bathrooms for up to ten guests.
You also have your own lounge.
For such weekends we make a buffet breakfast for everyone, sitting round a big table.
The buffet comprises scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes, as well as cereals, juice, yogurt and toast, with pots of tea and coffee.
