The Ship Hotel
Welcome to The Ship Hotel in the centre of Allonby. The perfect place to relax after a bracing walk along the beach or after a long day exploring the beautiful Lake District or the stunning Solway Coast. Come in for a well deserved pint or a glass of wine, or why not enjoy a freshly prepared home-cooked meal. Eat, drink, sleep. Whatever the weather we can offer you a warm, friendly welcome, with comfortable rooms and a choice of bars.

We also have a function room which can be hired for events and parties. To stay at The Ship Hotel, Allonby is to follow in the footsteps of Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins who they stayed here in 1857. Dickens described The Ship as "a capital little homely inn looking out upon the sea.a clean nice place in a rough wild country".
Services
Welcoming warm people friendly (dog friendly) Hotel and bar, great homemade food sourced locally charming staff and great beers even Dickens said so and he was a well travelled man.-
The Ship Hotel is a grade II listed building situated in the centre of the peaceful seaside village of Allonby.
The hotel is surrounded by beautiful scenery and was once a 17th century coaching inn serving those travelling on the Workington to Carlisle road.
Today the hotel is owned by Steve and Val Ward and offers a warm welcome to visitors to the Solway Coast and the nearby Lake District.
Beautiful homemade beef Sunday dinner lovely fresh vegetables I would highly recommend the Ship hotel allonby it's not the first time we have eaten there and certainly won't be the last.
At The Ship Hotel, we believe that choice and variety in our drinks offering is just as important as our food menu.
That's why you'll always find a great selection of beers, ciders, Wines and spirits.
Friendly landlord, landlady and locals.
Food very nice and reasonably priced.
The establishment is very comfortable, with a lounge for dining & drinking and a separate games room that has a TV for watching the footy when it is on.
There are a few benches in front of the pub, and in the evening you can watch the stunning sunsets.
You can even buy real ale to takeaway too!
A absolute must if you are in the area.
Been here on many occasions over the years and find the owners very hospitable and very welcoming to children letting them play pool, supervised by us.
