Services
If you enjoy staying in places that are that little bit different then you've found the perfect spot.
This Victorian house has real character and a chequered history.
Of the surviving nineteenth century buildings in Magherafelt, this is one of the most recognizable and interesting.
It has featured in the European Heritage Open Days scheme and is regarded as one of the landmark buildings of Magherafelt.
The house as it stands today owes much to the work of Mary Kielt, Eugene's late mother, who purchased it in 1961 from the Kilroe family.
Situated in Magherafelt Town Centre, we are just 100 yards from the Terrace Hotel Magherafelt and 200 yards from Mid Ulster Council's Bridewell Tourist Information Centre.
We are within walking distance of all Magherafelt amenities - everything is at your doorstep!
We are ideally located for a visit to Seamus Heaney Home Place centre in Bellaghy, just a ten minute drive away.
Unusually for town centre accommodation, we have ample off-street enclosed parking - especially important for the cyclists and motor-cyclists among you.
You may provide these by email, though for security considerations we would recommend that you do so by telephone.
Or we can phone you if you prefer.
Payment is due on departure and can be made by debit card, credit card or cash.
Our preference is for payment by debit card.
The debit/credit card used to make the reservation will be charged in the event of cancellation within 2 days of arrival date.
We operate a 2 day cancellation policy.
This means that if you need to cancel a reservation you should do so 2 days or more before 12 noon on the day of arrival.
A tour through County Derry, whose landscape inspired many of the poet's best-known works.
Passing Laurel Villa, you'd never suspect it was a Tardis.
You have to enter this modestly proportioned house on the outskirts of the County Derry town of Magherafelt to taste its magic.
Your first impression is of a beautifully kept B&B.
Then you notice the photographs and paintings lining the walls: James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Seamus Heaney.
There are poems printed on linen, and first editions in glass cases.
Beautifully decorated, warm and comfy, with art and poetry in every one, you can take your pick of which might best feed your soul.
With hospitality such as this, and knowledge and passion to back it up, I am not surprised that Heaney gave a poetry reading here not so long ago.
He always has a great instinct for the real thing when he sees it.
