We, Vikki & Steve, have been running The Acorn Guesthouse since spring 2014 as a family business, although the guest house itself has been established for almost 20 years. Over the last 4 years, we have been lovingly updating the guesthouse to offer our guests a friendly welcome, comfortable rooms, modern facilities, a relaxed atmosphere and a homely environment.
Not to mention our delicious breakfasts, freshly cooked to order each morning. We have a variety of rooms and tariffs available to suit all travellers including, single travellers, couples, friends and families. Whether you are visiting Sunderland to work or for pleasure, we have something to suit everyone. All of our rooms are en-suite and contain a wealth of facilities you would expect for modern day travelling - plus one or two extras!
We are perfectly situated just a 10 min walk from the centre of Sunderland and the two metro stations (Sunderland & Park Lane). The Bridges Shopping Centre & The Winter Gardens and Museum are both a short walk down the road from us and a short taxi ride will get you to the famous Empire Theatre or The Stadium Of Light.

We also have several cereal choices, toast, fresh fruit, preserves, fruit juice and a selection of teas and coffee.
All of these items are self service.

Should you place a last minute booking and your arrival is within 3 days, the full amount will be taken at the time of booking.
Cancellation Policy: All bookings cancelled within 3 days of arrival will be charged the full outstanding balance.
Bookings cancelled with more than 3 days notice will not be charged the balance but will lose their deposit.

Naturally produced sea glass ("genuine sea glass") originates as pieces of glass from broken bottles, broken tableware, or even shipwrecks, which are rolled and tumbled in the ocean for years until their edges are rounded off and the slickness of the glass has been worn to a frosted appearance.
We have a selection of sea glass pictures hanging in our dining room and one in each of our guest rooms which are all for sale.
