Awd Tuts Cottage is just 20 metres away from Whitby harbour so we are in an ideal location near to the beach but also in the centre of Whitby, near to all attractions. In rough weather you can hear the sea lapping at the steps down to the harbour. Similarly, Riverside Cottage has waterside views overlooking the River Esk with its own private balcony from which to enjoy them.

Awd Tut (Old Tom) was a fisherman and the owner of this Whitby cottage in the 1800s.
He lived here for many years with his family.

Our cottage, now a Grade Two, 17th century listed building was originally built in 1640 and used as a fisherman's home for many years.
The cottage was not maintained however and became a derelict, run-down building in the 1970s when it was in danger of being torn down as unsafe by the local council.
He lived here for many years with his family.
