The MacRae family and Hazel Bank welcomes you to the heart of the Borrowdale valley, Keswick in the English Lake District. A magnificent Multi Award winning country house hotel in the heart of Borrowdale set amongst four acres of Britain's most beautiful countryside. Elevated above the hamlet of Rosthwaite, with commanding views of surrounding fells (which include Scafell Pike and Great Gable).

Hazel Bank was built around 1840. The acclaimed writer, Sir Hugh Walpole was a guest and Hazel Bank the fictional home in 'Rogue Herries', and birthplace for 'Judith Paris'. Hazel bank is a classic country house with private woodland, bridges and beck side walk. Uniquely situated for all manner of outdoor pursuits and with easy access to Keswick and Derwentwater (Queen of the English lakes).

Whether it is an energetic day on the fells or a relaxing afternoon tea on the lawn, Hazel Bank is the perfect place to escape, relax and explore. Named after the mountain in looks on to, this is a well-appointed deluxe room with views over the lawns.

Every room has breathtaking views of the Borrowdale Valley and is a perfect haven to retire to after a Lakeland walk or a day's exploring.
All our rooms are complimented by ensuite bathrooms with baths and showers, and feature the finest quality L'Occitane toiletries and soaps, along with heated towel rails to ensure those fluffy white towels are always warm.
We offer a set four course meal with canaps at 45.00 per person reduced to 39 when booked in advance for residents and served between 7pm and 8pm, with canapes served at 7pm.
Our philosophy here at Hazel Bank has always been to use the very best and freshest produce Cumbria has to offer to create our thoughtfully presented, award winning home cooked food.
All our food is individually prepared and cooked by the "Lady of the House" Donna MacRae, a local born lass with years of cooking experience and a true believer in the art of beautifully presented food using, wherever possible, locally sourced or foraged Cumbrian produce.
