It is easy to fall in love with this beautiful part of England, and that's what happened in 1989 when Andy moved up from Horley Surrey South England to do a bit of climbing: he fell in love with Keswick, the fells and the lifestyle.
Now many years later, a lot of climbing, a lot of walking, and a lot of just enjoying this beautiful scenery that all year around still take's our breath away, it is safe to say that we have well and truly settled in the lovely market town of Keswick.
When Andy took this place over all those years ago, the hotel was in need of a lot of attention, and a lot of attention it has had!
Room 2 is on the first floor, overlooking the central car park towards Skiddaw: The oldest mountain in England - and very picturesque.
The room can be used as a double room, a twin room, or a family of three.
Room 3 is on the first floor.
When stepping in to the room you will find a spacious room with an alcove, and 4 big windows lets the "outside in", so there is a nice feeling in the room, whatever the time of year it is.
Room 4 is on the second floor, overlookingthe car park towards Skiddaw: The oldest mountain in England - and very picturesque.
Cooking and baking (and eating!) is something we both love, and we are constantly striving to offer a top breakfast selection, with a lot of delicious choices of the highest quality.
You will be met with a waft of Andy's really yummy homemade bread.
A recipe from Paul Hollywood that Andy has now tweaked to be just right, with a blend of browns a white flour, and that crunchy crust.
Andy's homemade beautifully creamy yogurt has been a stable for a long time on the self-service counter.
And now there are the new additions to go very well with the yogurt: Homemade granola and the homemade fruit compote.
We've celebrated several awards over the year, but winning the Visit England Gold Award has to be one of our favourite landmarks.
This award was given after our recent renovation and acknowledges that a stay here, as well as having a very homely and welcoming feel, also has that special something.
We received the breakfast award in 2013.
We both enjoy cooking and it was a natural progression to offer some homemade options on both our self-servicing counter (yogurt, bread, granola, fruit compote) as on the cooked breakfast menu (baked beans, pancakes, roasties).
