The Kings Arms Hotel
There are few pubs as full of history as The King's Arms in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Dating back to the 1500s, the building pre-dates nearby Blenheim Palace. We've kept up some of the pub's traditions - offering cosy spaces, classic British dishes and a warm welcome - but have added innovative food, boutique rooms and contemporary cask ales into the mix.

With 15 gorgeous rooms to choose from, The King's Arms is a great base from which to explore both Woodstock market town, and the nearby city of Oxford. The hotel enjoys a prime location ten minutes' stroll from Blenheim Palace and its beautiful grounds. The Parish Church of St Martin Bladon is a five-minute drive away, while you can reach nearby Oxford in just 20 minutes.

Alternatively, take the train into the city to enjoy its famous architecture and to explore Oxford's museums. Everything on the menu at The King's Arms is prepared using fantastic seasonal ingredients. Our head chef has crafted an array of delicious options to suit every taste, with special chef's signature dishes for those keen to try something a bit different.
Services
The King's Arms is one of the most popular pub names in England - and that's mostly thanks to King Henry VIII.
During the Reformation, when the king disbanded the monasteries, publicans who'd previously nodded to their religion through their pub's name (such as The Lamb and Flag) hastily changed the sign above the door.
Some, such as The King Arms, took up names that reflected their loyalty to the king.
Over the years, the pub has changed its name several times.
Originally known as the Corner House in the 1500s, it was later known as The Compasses before changing its name to The King's Arms in 1795.
