Services
Having spent our entire careers in the travel and tourism industry, we thought it would be a great idea to end our travels and try to put all our knowledge and experience into providing this wonderful property and its legacy of fabulous service and breakfasts with another twist yet maintaining everything great that has been created so far.
This 16th Century structure, now known as Penvith Barns, and its glass covered mystical smugglers tunnel is in a rather delightful spot on the South East Cornish coast, that we now call home.
The farms hereabouts are ancient and have royal connections.
The three major estates of Bucklawren, Boddiga and Treveria (which between them probably incorporated Penvith) were owned by King Harold, the ill-fated runner up in the Battle of Hastings.
The new King, William, noted them in the Domesday Book, and presented the lands to the Monastery of St Stephen in Launceston.
Not long after this, in the 13th or 14th Century, there was a manor house at Penvith, probably where the front garden of the old farmhouse is now.
Tea and coffee making facilities (including fresh ground coffee & cafetiere, hot chocolate).
Use of the guest kitchen and breakfast room, including microwave and large fridge freezer (for any local delicacies you may have bought).
Views across open countryside to Looe and the white clay hills of St. Austell 20 miles away.
Follow that with our 'Full Cornish'.
Every part of your breakfast has been carefully considered and sourced locally.
Your plate is brimming over with bacon, sausage, hogs pudding, black pudding, field mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans (Heinz of course!) and free range eggs from our very own chickens.
The ingredients are all locally sourced.
We are lucky enough to have Chris Roundsevell deliver his fresh produce to us and make your first meal of the day extra special.
Talking of specials, there's always one to choose from, eggs Benedict, Basque tomatoes, smoked salmon and scrambled egg or seasonal mushrooms with sage and parsely on toast.
Close to beaches, the coast path and Looe with its quaint winding narrow streets leading down to the harbour with fishing and sightseeing trips from the quay, not to mention its delicious creams teas, there is much to do and see in the immediate vicinity of Penvith Barns.
Our local area is also great for food lovers with a good selection of restaurants and eating places.
Nearby there are country houses and gardens to explore, steam trains to catch at the Bodmin and Wenford Railway, smugglers' haunts at Jamaica Inn and many other attractions to visit.
