Penrose B & B
Penrose is a homely and luxurious Bed & Breakfast only 6 miles (10 minutes drive) away from the Eden Project. Chris and Heidi would like to offer you a warm welcome to their beautiful and charming Victorian home, Penrose Bed and Breakfast, looking over the historic town of Lostwithiel in the Fowey Valley, Cornwall. We have 6 bedrooms, which consist of 3 large king size and 3 versatile and large double/twin/family all with ensuites.

There is more information on the Accommodation icon on the top right of this screen. We also accept children and dogs! Even though our rooms are on a par with a 4 star hotel, we are still just a Bed & Breakfast. It is just us, Chris and Heidi (oh and Flo the cat) giving you the best personal service we can. We are well placed to use as a base to explore the whole of Cornwall.

The Eden Project, local gardens and the nearest beaches are a 10 minute drive away; the north coast 40 minutes and even Lands End is only just over an hour. At night leave the car and walk into town for some of the best offerings in food and drink you will find in all of Cornwall.
Services
The Black Prince called Lostwithiel 'the fairest of all small cities'.
Once the Duchy Capital, this small town has a character all it's own, proud of its heritage, independent, yet friendly and happy to share its many charms.
It is truly a hidden gem.
Lostwithiel is the antiques and 'slow food' centre of the Duchy.
Its shops, antique markets, auctions, gallery, museum, pubs and restaurants draw people from far and wide.
Here, you can browse for paintings, antiques, ceramics, lace, jewellery, eco products and old books, local food and produce; and enjoy excellent food in the pubs, restaurants, cafes and takeaways.
For Best available rates: Phone our landline on 01208 871417 or our mobile 07766900179 which we always have with us.
We don't charge booking fees.
Adults from 20 in the winter to 60 in the summer per person per night based on two people sharing.
Babies and children are charged from 15 to 25 per child/baby per night.
All ages are welcome.
The tariff is negotiated at the time of booking as it depends on age, date of booking and if they are sharing a family room or need their own room.
We can provide a travel cot and high chair at no extra cost, however not all of our rooms have capacity for a cot, please contact us before booking.
We look to help with the needs of all our guests and the following will show you what we can do.
Travelling to Lostwithiel can be done in several ways.
The most environmentally friendly is by train (Lostwithiel has its own station and trains stop at regular intervals), or by National Express coach (the stop is in the middle of town).
We are more than happy to come and pick you up.
Directions to Penrose are on the Contact Us page.
Lastly you can travel by car.
We have parking at the back of the house, off Scrations Lane (please let us know if you are bringing a van - anything larger than a Sprinter needs to park in town), and we can park up to 6 cars (we do have to double park to do this but we manage this rather well!).
We have to offer two adaptable king/twin/family ensuite rooms, three king size ensuite bedrooms and one family suite (two bedrooms together that accommodates four people).
Not all the rooms have the space for a cot, please check the 'Cot' tab on the respective room page for more details.
Two of the rooms are on the ground floor and can be used as a family suite for five people.
We also have 'The Snug' a lovely bejou guest lounge.
Chris and Heidi like to offer a high level of comfort and quality, mixed with a big dollop of homeliness to help you relax and enjoy your stay.
Room 1 is a first floor bedroom with a king size bed, plus comfy seating for two people, and a little window seat.
The ensuite is huge, with a 900cm x 900cm shower, basin and toilet - this is half of what used to be a bedroom; the pictures on the wall are of flowers from the local gardens.
We redecorated this room so it is has a William Morris'esk' feel to it, which we have used from looking at Lanhydrock House; a local National Trust property.
We assume the Liddicoat's who built the Terrace knew the Robartes at Lanhydrock.
