Dorset is open again! We want to reassure you that we will be fulfilling ALL the necessary requirements to give you a safe and secure holiday. At first this will include only accepting one booking for a couple or family group at a time, so you know that you will not meet other guests within the house. We provide sanitiser, but you may wish to bring your own, and also face masks for your own peace of mind.

For more information ring Sarah (number above on the header) for a chat about how best you would like to organise your visit. THE OLD BANK B&B is a comfortable, pretty 18th century house with off road parking in the centre of the attractive village of Marnhull, near Shaftesbury in the heart of Thomas Hardy country. We have ideal family accommodation and also welcome couples and individuals wanting a country break away from it all.

We are a dog friendly B&B with a secure garden. Relax and unwind on your holiday in a warm and friendly atmosphere at our bed and breakfast in Dorset. Set on a hill overlooking the Blackmore Vale in Dorset, Marnhull is an excellent centre from which to explore the countryside, the coast and the ancient towns of Shaftesbury, Sherborne, Bath and Salisbury.
Services
The Old Bank is a family friendly B&B and always happy to accommodate children and babies - and dogs!
We have cots, high chairs and other equipment that can help you with your holiday.
There is free Wifi in all the rooms and tea and coffee making facilities in all the bedrooms.
Breakfast is included in the price of the room and is served in our informal and relaxed kitchen, (or outside in our flower filled courtyard on sunny days) cooked on a range and served whilst you sit at the table enjoying good coffee (or tea of course), and thinking how you would like to spend the day.
Our bed and breakfast in Dorset is close to many National Trust, English Heritage and other historic properties in the area, from the houses and gardens of Stourhead, Kingston Lacy and Montecute to the beaches and wildlife reserves of Studland, Brownsea Island and the Golden Cap Estate.
Other heritage and historical attractions include Salisbury Cathedral and the famous monument of Stonehenge to the east and Sherborne Abbey and Castle to the west.
Further south the Jurassic coast of Dorset is a designated world heritage site and abounds with fossils and the skeletal remains of dinosaurs.
Most places are now open but please check with specific pubs and restaurants to avoid disappointment.
Dorset has become well known as a 'foodie county'.
Marnhull is situated in the Blackmore Vale referred to by Thomas Hardy as the 'Vale of Little Dairies' and is proud of its local cheeses, celebrated annually with a Cheese Festival at Sturminster Newton.
You can find out more about this and the various entertainments that happen on the day on the Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival site.
Similarly Shaftesbury has a thriving food and drink festival with the famous (and slightly bonkers!) Cheese Race up Gold Hill.
