Choose from 7 luxury accommodation bedrooms in our barn conversion with all our hotel rooms having en-suite facilities plus colour television, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryers and more. The Stanley Arms enjoys an excellent reputation for fine food. You may have noticed that part of our address is Bottom of the Oven, an area of Macclesfield Forest.

Why not pay us a visit and judge for yourselves if our reputation is justified. The Macclesfield pub, bar and restaurant have remained unchanged and maintain all their original features. The log fires, cask-conditioned CAMRA quality real ales, fine wines and excellent food provide a warm welcome in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

The public house is one of the highest in the country and within sight of the Cat and Fiddle, which claims to be the highest public house in England, though I am told that a pub in the Lake District claims to be ten feet higher! The Stanley Arms, in the Peak District National Park, is surrounded by breathtaking countryside used frequently by ramblers, within the boundary of Macclesfield Forest and its associated reservoirs.
Services
Prior to 1906 The Stanley Arms was a working farm.
The licence for the pub was transferred from the School Rooms in Macclesfield Forest in 1906, and for many years The Stanley Arms was both a working farm and public house.
Originally called The Derby Arms, named after Lord Derby, it changed its name before the Second World War, to the Stanley Arms (Stanley being the family name of Lord Derby of Knowsley).
The pub in recent times has been a tenancy of Marstons Brewery and is now part of The Union Pub Company, Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries.
Your luxury accommodation consists of seven luxurious en-suite double bedrooms all furnished to the high standards you would expect from 4 star guest accommodation.
The accommodation is ideal for people on business, tourists and visitors to the area or couples seeking a quiet few days relaxing in the wonderful surrounding countryside.
Rooms have been sympathetically converted from a barn adjacent to the property and all prices include Breakfast and VAT.
This is the prime room of the Stanley Arms with views down 'the Clough' to Wildboarclough and Shutlingsloe.
The restaurant was originally a poolroom, but has now been converted into a select dining area with places for approximately thirty people.
The Stanley Arms enjoys an excellent reputation for good food and drink in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
We believe this to be one of the reasons for regular groups of people, returning, time after time, to enjoy the delights of our restaurant and the fine food served there.
Our reputation for fine food has spread to the surrounding towns of Congleton, Macclesfield, Buxton and Leek.

The bar has a selection of real ales from the Marstons Brewery, including Marstons best bitter and the renowned Pedigree.
We also have Guinness on draught, Carlsberg lager, Strongbow cider and a selection of red and white wines.
Marstons Pedigree is listed as a real ale by the Campaign for Real Ale, better known as CAMRA.
Standing outside our front door and looking directly ahead, you can see the view along the valley, with Shutlingsloe Hill in the distance.
It has been said that a local farmer once drove his landrover to the top, but I do not know if this is true.
What I do know is that, at 1600 feet above sea level, the view is amazing, looking out over Wildboarclough village and some hamlets with quaint names such as Danebridge, Wincle, Kerridge, Kettleshulme, Lamaload and almost over to the famous Goyt Valley and its associated reservoirs.
