John o' Groats Guest House is the perfect place for End-to-Enders, being just a mile from the iconic signpost. With superb views over the Pentland Firth, we are within easy reach of the Orkney ferries from John o' Groats and Gills Bay. Our location offers the perfect base to explore the natural wonders that abound in and around John o' Groats. If you have an interest in wildlife, history, geology or the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights then Caithness has it all.

Please note: Whilst displays of the aurora are common in John o' Groats, obviously the chances of seeing them are dependent upon solar conditions and the prevailing weather.
The further north you are, the better your chances of witnessing the aurora.
On the British mainland, in John o' Groats, you are as far north as it is possible to be and your chances are maxmised.
If you are travelling to John o' Groats and expect to arrive after 8pm, we recommend that you have your evening meal en route in either Wick or Thurso, as late dinners are not available locally.
The Seaview Hotel is situated just over half a mile (1km) from the Guest House and offers a full range of meals from bar snacks to restaurant meals.
The Cabin @ John o' Groats is located at the harbour one mile (1.5km) from the Guest House and offers a selection of take-away meals.
If you are taking the Orkney Tour with John o' Groats Ferries, evening meals can be ordered prior to your boarding and will be ready on your return.
John o' Groats is a village in the far North Eastern corner of the county of Caithness.
It is at one end of the longest distance between two inhabited points on the island of Great Britain, Land's End (874 miles, 1407 km away) is at the other.
John o' Groats is 690 miles (1,110 km) from London, 6 miles (9.7 km) miles from the Orkney Islands, 12,850 miles (20,680 km) from New Zealand and 2,200 miles (3,500 km) from The North Pole.
As you travel northwards along the A99 from Wick, the John o' Groats Guest House is the first property you come to on arriving in John o' Groats.
Many rare mammals, birds and fish have been sighted in and around Caithness.
Harbour porpoises, dolphins (including Risso's, bottle-nosed, common, Atlantic white-sided and white-beaked) and orca (killer Whale), minke and long-finned pilot whales are regularly seen from the shore and boats.
Both grey and common seals come close to the shore to feed, rest and raise their pups, and otters can be seen close to river mouths.
To the north and the east, dramatic coastal scenery is home to large, internationally important colonies of seabirds.
