Tregathenan House & Cottages
We will be contacting all our guests with bookings starting before this date in the next couple of days. Hi! We're Liz and Ian and we would love to share with you our little piece of heaven at Tregathenan near Helston. We have lived here since 2002 with our alpacas, ducks, chickens, border collie and cats. It's peaceful and quiet; it's 'away from it all, in the middle of it all' - at the top of a private tree-lined drive, laden with spring flowers, surrounded by green fields.

Enjoy a memorable self-catering holiday at Tregathenan. Choose from one of our 3 granite cottages set in a pretty enclosed courtyard, or our lovingly restored period house with its own mature garden. The properties sleep from 4 to 6 guests. They are all individual, clean, comfortable, centrally heated throughout and really well-equipped, plus there's plenty of private parking.

Tregathenan is perfectly positioned for exploring the many local attractions, beaches and countryside of SW Cornwall. There are some great walks and bike rides starting from just outside your front door.
Services
We have 9 male alpacas at Tregathenan.
They graze happily in either of our 2 main fields above and below the House and Cottages.
They range in age between 2 and 17! Some are huycaya alpacas and some are suri alpacas (the ones with the 'dreadlocks').
They have their main feed fed once/day in the late afternoon, and guests are welcome to come and watch the organised chaos which results from trying to get 9 boys to all eat nicely at the same time!
The alpacas love meeting people, although some are more confident around strangers than others.
Tregathenan sits between two of the most stunningly beautiful areas of Cornwall - the Land's End peninsula and the Lizard peninsula, which includes an area designated SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).
The Cornish countryside is diverse with its mix of coast and rural; its industrial and cultural heritage and its unique flora and fauna.
Since moving to Cornwall in 2002, we have loved every aspect of our adopted home and, more than anything, enjoy sharing it with the many visitors who come to Tregathenan each year.
Here are some suggestions for days out that are car-free, or which minimise the use of the car.
For a bit of fun, we have graded each suggestion depending on how 'green' each activity is, where 10 green points is the best!
Why not see how many points you can collect during your stay?
Visit the restoration work on the Helston to Redruth railway line at Trevarno Farm - volunteers have restored a couple of miles of track and have a shop, information carriage, and some rolling stock.
You can walk there from Tregathenan - there is a 3 mile circular walk provided in your cottage.
Tregathenan House and Cottages are situated between Coverack Bridges and Crowntown about 3 miles North of the historic market town of Helston.
After another mile look out for some black and white roadside posts on the right, then a white cottage TREGATHENAN COTTAGE with our board alongside it.
Turn right alongside Tregathenan Cottage (signed PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY), and take the second gateway on the right for Tregathenan House (approximately 150 yards up the tarmac), and the third gateway on the right for the Granary, Long Barn and Hayloft Cottages.
