Kingswood Cottage
Christine and Paul Ames and their black Labrador 'Molly' and Miniature Schnauzer 'Whisper' welcome you to our peaceful and picturesque cottage situated in park-like grounds, adjacent to the New Forest where we have been offering quality Bed and Breakfast to guests for over 25 years! Ashurst is a small village on the east side of the New Forest 3 miles from Lyndhurst, the 'capital village' of the New Forest and 6 miles from Southampton.

Travel to Ashurst is easy: by road - we are approximately one and a half hours from London: by rail - Ashurst (The New Forest) station on the mainline from London Waterloo to Poole via Southampton is five minutes walk: by air Southampton and Bournemouth airports are both within half an hour drive with Southampton having a rail connection through the New Forest.

There is a small car park at the cottage for guest cars and bicycles can be safely stored.
Services
The cottage is approximately 120 years old and formed part of the Busketts Fletchwood Estate, the only property in Woodlands Road at that time.
It was here that all the soft fruit and vegetables were grown for the main house and under part of the cottage is a water reservoir.
Water was heated and pumped to the house and the pump room still has the original pipe work in it.
The grounds are a delight with a small stream where wildlife abounds.
Kingfishers, dragonflies and the occasional sea trout can be seen if you are patient enough.
Kingswood Cottage offers two ensuite double rooms and one ensuite twin room, both with shower rooms.
Beautifully furnished with co-ordinating soft furnishings the double aspect windows have views over the forest and are both comfortable and restful.
The rooms are equipped with hospitality trays, colour tv's and hairdryers with an information folder containing places to visit and local restaurant menus.
Our dining room is very much a forest room with old forest prints and other memorabilia.
Books and maps are available for your use in planning your day.
Breakfast is served in the dining room and conservatory between 8 and 9.30am.
Early light breakfasts can be arranged for those leaving early to catch a train, boat or plane.
We offer a wide choice to suit all appetites and tastes with fresh fruit salad and yoghurts in addition to cereals for those preferring a lighter breakfast.
Our full English breakfast will set you up for the day with locally produced bacon, eggs and sausages on the menu as well as Scrambled Eggs on a Toasted Muffin with Smoked Salmon or even 'home caught' Smoked Trout!
Set aside by William The Conqueror in 1079 for hunting the Royal Deer, the New Forest is certainly not NEW!
Many customs and traditions continue and it is rich in history and heritage.
The famous New Forest ponies are all owned by the Commoners whose properties have 'Forest Rights' attached to them.
The most important of these 'Rights' is the Right of Pasture.
Their ponies, cattle, donkeys some sheep and pigs can be turned out to graze the forest and they play an important part in shaping the landscape of the forest.
