Gwesty Minffordd Hotel & Restaurant
The Minffordd Hotel is much more than a snowdonia hotel, but rather a charming retreat with a good restaurant & cosy bar serving a good range of wines and traditional local ales and beers Let good company, a warm and friendly atmosphere create a special holiday break for you.

Original parts of the hotel are over 450 years old, previously an old drover's inn, set in the picturesque steeps sided Tal-y-llyn valley here in south snowdonia national park. with low beamed ceilings, many original features still visible, and of course a blazing log fire.!.Situated in the Talyllyn valley at the base of Cader Idris Mountain (it is literally in our back garden) with the start of the Minffordd path only 2 min walk way from our front door.

We are also in the Mach Loop where the low flying jets can be seen daily flying down the valley & just above the tree tops. We are situated in the Mach Loop which is a set of valleys, situated between Dolgellau in the north, and Machynlleth in the south (and from which the Mach Loop gets its name), which are regularly used for low level flight training, with flying as low as 250 feet (76 metres) from the nearest terrain.
Services
All we ask is that you keep your dog under control whilst in and around the hotel as some guest may not be pet lovers & that you clean up accidents after them.
We do have 2 very well behaved dogs of our own Jasper & Molly they are very friendly with guest although we don't allow them in the actual hotel.
As we are located in a very rural mountainous area at great distance from the exchange our internet provider cannot currently supply us with a fast internet service.
Most guest find it works just fine for checking email, social media and browsing the internet.
Its not suitable for downloading or streaming online content.
In this photograph you can see the hotel bottom right of the photo with the awesome & mighty cader idris literally in our back garden.!
We are ideally situated for exploring mid & north Wales at the southern tip of the Snowdonia National Park In Gwynedd on the A487 At the Junction with the B4405.
Approximately 8 miles from Dolgellau, 9 miles from Machynlleth and 12 miles from Tywyn and 250 yards from Cader Idris car park.
Minffordd is ideally situated for those who wish to walk Cader Idris or if walking is not your thing we have several Golf courses ( Aberdovey, Borth, Machynlleth, Harlech) within a 30 minute drive, Fishing is also available on Talyllyn Lake which is only 5 minute drive away, there is also good coarse and sea fishing available Locally.
Food is served daily in our small cosy & traditional styled Restaurant.
Our chef Darren cooks & prepares excellent freshly prepared food using local welsh suppliers & products.
Darren's style of cooking is unpretentious, uncomplicated yet well presented & cooked plates with generous portions of homemade food, Just what you need after a long day walking the local mountains of Snowdonia.
We are confident you will enjoy our menu & daily specials.
Darren our resident chef worked with Michelle for 7 years prior to moving to Minffordd You may not see much of Darren who prides himself on his home-made, generous portions of non fussy style of cooking as he is usually busy in his kitchen preparing for Dinner.
The Mach Loop is a set of valleys, situated between Dolgellau in the north, and Machynlleth in the south (and from which the Mach Loop gets its name), which are regularly used for low level flight training, with flying as low as 250 feet (76 metres) from the nearest terrain.
To the south of the Mach Loop there is an area called Tactical Training Area 7T, in which, at specified times, the aircraft may fly as low as 100 feet (30.5 Metres).
Generally the jets fly Monday to Friday all year round & certainly not weekends or bank holidays.
