The Fox and Hounds Hotel in Eggesford, North Devon, is a former coaching inn, perfect for a relaxing break in the Devon countryside or a special celebration, with easy access from Exeter, Barnstaple and the M5.
The hotel is furnished with some beautiful antiques and has undergone a gradual refurbishment over the last 6 years.
There are 6 acres of gardens stretching down to the banks of the beautiful River Taw.
If you are lucky one of the locals might divulge where the otters are to be seen or if the salmon are leaping up Eggesford Bridge.

Exit Jnc 27 and take A361 towards Tiverton.
Take A396 signposted Tiverton/Bickleigh until you reach A3072 to Crediton.
Follow this until the junction of the A377 and head towards Barnstaple.
After approx 14 miles you will pass Eggesford Station and the hotel is just after this on your left.
For the brave the cross country route is 20 minutes quicker.
Take the A361 as above until the end of the dual carriageway for Tiverton centre.
Turn left (signposted Witheridge) then right at the Morrisons roundabout.
Take A396 signposted Tiverton/Bickleigh until you reach A3072 to Crediton.

Beautiful location and lovely grounds, very relaxed atmosphere.
All the staff seemed relaxed, happy and efficient, it seemed the management care about their staff as well as their guests.
The food menu was extensive and delicious, very good value for money.
We certainly hope to return.

Rooms clean with lovely large bath sheets in the bathrooms not like some of the flimsy towels supplied in some higher starred hotels!

The Devon School of Fly Fishing are based at the hotel and are available for guiding and tuition when booked in advance.
We have DVD players and DVDs available to hire and irons are available to borrow.
