Please note due to the character of our Grade II listed building, wheelchair & buggy access is not available. Our catering team is available to provide restaurant quality food to you at your home or venue of choice, from a small BBQ or mobile bar service to weddings & celebrations. Owned & run by brothers Tom & James Bainbridge, The White Hart offers varied menus, real ales, an extensive gin range, cocktails & an exciting wine list.
The White Hart dates back to 1681 and it was Welwyn's main coaching inn.
It was a popular overnight stop for travellers going north from London and at one point it offered fourteen beds for humans and stabling for thirty four horses.
It was also home to the village courtroom, where petty sessions were held, when misdemeanours may have included theft and assault and, ironically, drunkenness.

Our four converted stable rooms offer comfort and practicality, having direct access to the car park.
These rooms are perfect for those staying for multiple nights.
Our beautiful stable rooms have been fitted with key safes - meaning you can book & pay for your room in advance, we'll send you a code to access your room key & you can drop your key in a drop box at the end of your stay - we'll be on the end of the phone if you need anything.
In the main house we offer six standard double rooms, two of which boast Four Poster beds.
These rooms are perfect for those staying for multiple nights.
Our beautiful stable rooms have been fitted with key safes - meaning you can book & pay for your room in advance, we'll send you a code to access your room key & you can drop your key in a drop box at the end of your stay - we'll be on the end of the phone if you need anything.

Our function room is the former court house of Welwyn but now we use it for wedding receptions, parties, celebrations and conferences.
Now suitable for special occasions, celebrations & watching sports.
We have a range of different menu's and packages from buffets for up to 80 to a sit down meal for 40.
For conferences we have delegate rates from a quick meeting to a whole day conference with accommodation, lunch and dinner.
