The Pheasant Inn
Lovingly prepared by our team of chefs our Pheasant food hampers contain the finest local produce. Simply order and collect from the pub. Whether it's a quick coffee and a bacon bap or the Full Monty - Champagne and a feast of your choosing, we've got you covered! Bordering the village of Shefford Woodlands and overlooking Berkshire's famed Valley of the Racehorse, our inn has a hospitality pedigree that stretches back 450 years, to when it first sheltered drovers herding livestock from Wales to London.

Today, the newly refurbished pub and its fourteen en-suite guest rooms offer an adventurous drinks menu, flavoursome modern British cooking and luxurious accommodation with outstanding value and a warm, relaxed welcome. We serve lunch in the restaurant and bar between 12 noon and 3pm from Monday to Saturday, and 12 noon to 4pm on Sunday. We serve dinner in the restaurant and bar between 6pm and 9.30pm Monday to Saturday and 12 noon to 8pm on Sunday.

Refreshingly independent, proudly local and warmly welcoming, The Surprise is a uniquely appetising slice of London's colourful history.
Services
Jack's family has a passion for brewing and managing pubs and hotels that dates back to the 1750s and, having trained with the fastest-growing country pub group in the south of England, Jack was thrilled to launch his own innkeeping career with a top-to-bottom restoration that both honours The Pheasant's heritage and ushers in a new generation of epicurean pleasures.
A sensitive refurbishment has brought the bar and restaurant a new, relaxed elegance with rich colours, comfortable furnishings and atmospheric lighting.
Our guest bedrooms have all the relaxed, home-from home comfort you'd expect from a country pub, with the minute attention to detail of a smart hotel and a fresh, modern design approach.
Completely refurbished by London-based interior designer Flora Soames, each of our 11 en-suite rooms has a completely unique look based on a bespoke combination of rich colours, striking patterns and luxurious textures that balances quirky eclecticism with clean contemporary lines.
Elegant fluted armchairs, buttoned ottomans and individually hand-picked artworks are among the characterful features, while bathrooms, two of which have bathtubs as well as high-quality powerful showers, are stocked with indulgent handmade toiletries by Bamford, a boutique botanicals brand from nearby Gloucestershire.
Our approach to food is all about bringing together the best ingredients, simply and deliciously.
Rooted in classic modern British cooking, our regularly changing menu showcases the freshest meat and fish and finest artisan products from around the country, while our diverse daily specials let us put local and seasonal ingredients centre stage.
Our prices are appetising too - most of our main course are well under 20.
Our Pheasant food hampers contain the finest local produce lovingly prepared by our team of chefs and are the perfect option for either a day out or even just a day in the garden.
Our new upstairs dining space has been beautifully designed by Octavia Dickinson and is now available for cocktails and canaps or a private dinner party.
The room seats up to twenty people and includes a Sonos sound system and large flat screen TV with full Sky Sports package.
