Leave all distractions behind and unwind in our lounge, with fabulous views over our gardens. With an open log fire in the Winter, this is the perfect way to warm up after a walk in the fells.
Services
Owners and hosts, Stephen, Angela and Adrian, have created a luxurious hotel here in the northern Lake District, and their emphasis on personal service and wonderful attention to detail makes this house a home from home that lures their guests back time after time.
Set in 18 acres of gardens and nursery woodland, Overwater Hall is a fine example of an elegant and authentic Country House Hotel.
One of the principal mansions in the area, and having been occupied by the Cumbrian family, the Gillbanks, as far back as 1814, the Grade II listed Hall has been designated as a building of architectural and historic interest.
Your hosts, Adrian, Angela and Stephen met at the University of Surrey in the 1980's where they studied Hotel & Catering Administration.
On graduating, Adrian worked as a General Manager for the outside catering firm, Kennedy Brookes; Angela as Front of House Manager, firstly for Crest Hotels, then at the London Tara Hotel; and Stephen as Food & Beverage Manager with Crest Hotels, before working for Rank Hovis McDougall.
Adrian and Angela married in 1987 and their two children, Casey and Matthew, are also now both married and have children of their own.
Dog owners will be delighted to know that well-behaved dogs are genuinely welcome to stay at Overwater Hall at no extra charge.
Dogs are welcome in bedrooms and in one of the hotel's lounges and bar - no dogs on chairs, though, please!
Cumbria is a walker's paradise at any time of the year, with its spectacular scenery, fells, lakes and gardens, and for all of these reasons, your dog will love it, too.
And there is no reason to even venture beyond the grounds of the hotel with its 18 acres, including our lovely woodland boardwalk.
The local area, the Lake District, has always drawn people for holidays: its lakes, hills and mountains appealing to walkers and climbers; its rich heritage of interest to many, from stately homes and castles to Roman forts and prehistoric stone circles; and its beauty an inspiration to all, whatever the weather.
Here in the North Lakes, that unspoilt feel, so special to anyone living in a town or city, has been proudly retained.
Here you can walk for hours without seeing another soul, and if you find yourself stuck in traffic, you can be sure there is a tractor up ahead!
You just know when a hotel feels right: when you feel immediately at home; relaxed and comfortable; welcome.
Overwater Hall is one of those places.
It is more than a hotel - it's an experience.
You're not just booking a room: there are two comfortable lounges for you to enjoy: watch the red squirrels through the Drawing Room window, or curl up here in front of the log fire on a winter's day; sit with your dog in the Hall while you read a book or plan tomorrow's outing on the fells.
Our cosy bar is open all day: a pint of Skiddaw - a locally brewed real ale - is always welcome after a day out walking, but if a glass of wine or a cocktail is more what you had in mind, well there are plenty of these to choose from, too!
