Foxghyll Country House and B&B is a situated in the heart of The Lake District - Ambleside. For over 35 years, Foxghyll Country House B&B has offered guests a luxurious stay and warm welcome in Ambleside, the heart of the English Lake District. This large country house, originally built in the 1600's & once home to author and literary figure Thomas DeQuincey, offers guests a unique B&B experience.

Located on the incredibly scenic Under Loughrigg Road, 10 minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside. Foxghyll Guest House, located 5 minute drive from Ambleside, on the historic literary road of Under Loughrigg. Originally built in the 1600's, Foxghyll has undergone a diverse and colourful history. Having once had the famous writer, author and literary figure Thomas De Quincy as a tenant for a short time.

The house was later occupied by the Hon. WE. Forster. MP for the borough of Bradford, and the first minister of education. It was during this time in the 1870's that extensive addtions were added in the decorative & imaginative style of an affluent Regency country house.
