Bridge House, in the historic Charter town of Bampton on the edge of the Exmoor National Park, has been offering food, refreshment and a place to stay for over 100 years. In the early 1900's known as the "Cyclist's Rest" it became one of two Temperance Hotels in Bampton. Our "proper good food" is all made in house at "The Bridge" utilising the fantastic range of seasonal quality ingredients this area has to offer.
There is outside seating in our lovely walled garden and for those colder months we light the log burner in the dining room and front parlour where breakfast is served if you are staying in one of our newly refurbished guest rooms.

Nigel and Caroline Lamacraft took over the Bridge House Hotel in 2013 and after refurbishing, the doors of "Bridge House" have opened again as a licensed restaurant serving "proper good food".
Having run the popular and busy "Avocet Caf" in Topsham for 9 years, the couple were seeking a new challenge and a move to the country.
Bampton fitted the bill, being a thriving, small town with independent shops and a good community spirit.
Nigel & Caroline were keen to stay in Devon where they both grew up.

Our "proper good food" is freshly prepared by Nigel who likes to use quality local ingredients on the frequently changing seasonal menu.
We make our own bread, cakes, puddings, chutneys and preserves and ensure none of our food contains anything artificial.
Our Brunch menu is served until 2.30pm.
At lunch time you can also enjoy our homemade soups or snacks, or our sharing boards with local beers and ciders and wines to accompany your food.
Our coffee is from Exe Coffee Roasters made with our Astoria lever espresso machine and we serve a range of Miles' teas.

Our beautiful cast iron beds are handmade in Cornwall and our wool mattresses are British made.
To ensure you have a good nights' sleep our individually handcrafted wool "Devon duvets" keep you cool in Summer and warm in winter and are naturally breathable.
We have chosen to use quality British made fittings in our bathrooms and have finished off the guest rooms with period lighting and Farrow and Ball colours.
