We opened our doors on 16 July 1948 as a NAAFI club serving service personnel from Brompton Barracks and the Naval yard. The building was constructed at a cost of 150,000 and inaugurated by Admiral Sir Harold Burrough, CommanderinChief, The Nore. Our original facilities included 200 single rooms, 48 double rooms, a nursery, playroom, games room, restaurant, tavern bar, three flats and one of the finest ballrooms in the country. We were honoured to welcome King GeorgeVI among our earliest visitors, establishing a royal connection that endures today. After the NAAFI club closed on 28 July 1962, the building stood empty until our family acquired it in 1980. We have transformed the deserted and derelict property into a respected threestar hotel through careful renovation and investment.
Today we offer 101 ensuite rooms, free parking, petfriendly accommodation, nonsmoking environments and complimentary WiFi. Our Aurora Restaurant, Lounge Bar, event spaces and wedding packages are designed to meet the diverse needs of leisure and business guests.
