Services
Jasmine Cottage has been sympathetically modernised to give our guests present day comforts while retaining the old world character of the building.
The Cottage dates from the 18th Century and there are lots of exposed beams and feature stonework.
It has three large bedrooms and sleeps up to six people.
It is comfortably furnished, carpeted and well equipped, and in winter it is heated throughout.
Car parking is available immediately outside at the front of the property.
Open wood fire (large supply of free logs outside), feature stone wall, beamed ceiling, coffee table, two three-seater sofas, multi-channel digital TV with remote control and DVD player.
Steeple Ashton was one of the most important 'wool-towns' of the middle ages and from this time remain the exceptionally large Church of St Mary and many of the old buildings of the Village.
We have often won the 'Best Kept Village Competition'.
There are many footpaths around the Village where you may be greeted by a cheery 'good morning' or 'good afternoon' by the locals.
There is a village bus service to Trowbridge, Devizes and Bath.
The Village has a 'lockup' on the Village Green, used in the past to hold drunks whilst the Policeman was summoned, on his bicycle, from Trowbridge! Today, the 'lockup' houses the Village Green lawnmower.
This is, of course, for the whole Cottage and includes all fuels, wood for the fire, unlimited free Wi-Fi, hire of fresh bed linen and all taxes.
These are the actual prices you pay - We are a small, below the VAT threshold, family business - so book directly and you will legally avoid paying the 20% VAT and the booking fees that you would automatically pay, if you booked through agencies.
Jasmine Cottage is located on the unclassified road that passes through Steeple Ashton which in turn leads onto other local Villages.
Immediately outside the Cottage, adjacent to the road, is a narrow but long parking space, which is maintained by the Cottage and has been used by us for the last 40 years without any problems/damage whatsoever.
There is also plenty of free parking elsewhere in the Village.
Between Steeple Ashton and the adjacent Village of Keevil is the old World War 2 Keevil Airfield which was used, amongst other things during the war, to assemble and test-fly Spitfire aircraft partly manufactured in Trowbridge.
