Red Lion Hotel The Red Lion Hotel is situated in the tiny hamlet of Bredwardine, which nestles on the banks of the River Wye just 12 miles from Hereford, and 8 miles from the Welsh border town of Hay-on-Wye. Situated in the peaceful heart of England, with the Malvern Hills to the east and the Black Mountains to the west this beautiful stretch of countryside remains an unspoilt rural corner retaining a great flavour of Old England.

The hotel stands on it's own grounds in the centre of the village or Bredwardine, and there is a large secluded beer garden at the rear where you can relax. All our bedrooms retain an element of the old-world charm, are individually furnished and en-suite with either a shower, bath, or both. Your comfort is our first priority, so we have provided each room with tea and coffee making facilities, colour television, hair dryer and fan.

The bar stocks a selection of locally brewed real ales and cider. During the Summer months patrons can enjoy our secluded beer garden, and blazing log fires through the Winter months.

Over the last few years we have steadily built up a reputation as one of the premier Barbel Fisheries in the country. The usual weight range is between 4 to 9 lbs, with many double figure fish. The largest recorded so far weighing in at 14 lbs. The river is quite strong flowing and as a result the fish are extremely healthy and strong fighting, so we recommend a minimum of 8 lb line.

Centrally located on what for many years has been regarded as one of the finest Salmon fishing rivers in the country, and famous the quality of its "Springers", the fishery is well known for providing good sport throughout the year. Lying roughly mid-way along the length of the river Wye The Moccas Fishery offers a superb variety of characteristics from gravel beds, with streamy runs and deep pots, down to slower moving water over red bedrock, underwater ledges and dark pools, where a mighty Wye Salmon may lie in wait.
