Polean Farm We are now open as is the swimming pool, outdoor playground an indoor playroom. We are also offering animal feeds tractor rides and pony rides (but with adjustments to allow social distancing). Polean farm is located in Cornwall, down green lanes off the Looe to Polperro road, just outside the village of Pelynt. The farm is set amongst rolling farmland and is less than 2 miles from the sea.

On the farm we offer free animal feeding and pony and tractor rides (on weekdays only). The 18th century former barns have been converted into spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated child friendly and toddler friendly Cornish farm cottages set around a pretty courtyard. All of the cottages are full of character as they have been converted from the original farm buildings which date back to the 18th century.

We have upgraded all of the cottages with new leather furniture, flat screen TV's and new rugs and bedding and continue to make improvements every year. Our aim is to make each cottage a cosy home from home for you and your family.

We upgraded all cottages with leather furniture, flat screen TV's and new rugs and bedding and continue to make improvements every year. Our aim is to make each cottage a cosy home from home for you and your family. Well equipped kitchens with oven and hob, Microwave and Fridge Freezer (and dishwashers in Little Owls, Rosebud, Shires Rest, Twinkles and Waggoners).

Named after the owls that still live in the nesting boxes around the building, and that can sometimes be heard at night, Little Owls is a modern barn conversion. It is set in its own private lawned garden where a decked patio with garden furniture offers glorious views across the farm and towards the village of Pelynt (the garden is fenced, so there are no sharp drops for toddlers). Little Owls is surrounded by fields full of horses (and often rabbits and other animals and birds), so you will definitely feel like you are on a farm.

read more › Rosebud is a pleasant, beamed cottage with three bedrooms and two bathrooms and lovely countryside views. The cottage was named after Rosebud the cow, who had all of her calves in one of the downstairs rooms (before it was converted from a barn to a cottage!), while the upstairs was used to store hay in the winter. You can still see many of the original features of the barn, like the exposed stone walls, split barn door and the double upstairs opening that was once used to load the hay to and from the horse drawn wagons that pulled up underneath.

The cottage was named after the Shire Horses that used to live in the downstairs rooms (before it was converted from a barn to a cottage!), while the upstairs was used to store hay in the winter. You can still see many of the original features of the barn, like the exposed stone walls, the extra wide entrance door (wide enough for horses to get through!) and the upstairs door that was once used to load the hay too and from the horse drawn wagons that pulled up underneath.

read more › Waggoners is a delightful single level, open plan cottage, with its own private patio and garden to the rear and views of the front fields and the children's play area at the rear. The cottage was named after the wagons that used to be stored in it when it was an open sided barn and you can still see many of the original features of the barn, like the exposed stone walls. The spacious slate floored open plan kitchen/lounge/dining room has vaulted, beamed ceilings, a wood burning stove, brown leather furniture a 42 inch LCD TV and a DVD player.

The cottage was named after the old twelve sided three penny piece due to its shape, with the word Byre being an old English word for a cowshed. The bright and spacious open plan downstairs living space has a dining area and a kitchen area with oven, ceramic hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and a fridge with a small freezer box. The kitchen and lounge has views of the courtyard. The sitting area has a leather sofa and a very comfortable leather reclining chair - plus a digital 32 LCD TV and a DVD player.

read more › The Mealhouse has one bedroom and is called this because it was originally used to store the feed or 'meal' for the pigs that resided in the pig sty that can still be seen across from it (now a log shed). You can still see many of the original features of the building, like the exposed stone walls and the old wooden beam in the kitchen that was used to cure meat on. The Mealhouse is set slightly apart from the other cottages, offering uninterrupted views across the farm and of the passing horses.

We also have a large (fifteen acre) exercise field at the front of the farm, where they can be exercised off the lead - and can swim in our ponds if they like (there is a hosepipe in the farm yard that you can use to wash them after swimming or muddy walks!). There are many suitable walks from the farm and in the local area (you can walk to the coast and along the coastal path), plus there are many local beaches on which you can take your dogs (there are six all year dog friendly beaches near Looe, including small, quiet Talland Bay Beach, Hannafore Beach with super rock pools at low tide, the large shingle Seaton Beach, Lansallos Beach in a quiet cove, Downderry Beach (great for long walks) and the peaceful cove of Lantic Bay.).

Please note that while the pool is open every day, all year around, our guests do not have access to it during the month of August due to overcrowding issues. The pool is fully heated and air conditioned, with adjoining heated-changing rooms and showers.

read more › Once you get to Looe, cross the bridge and then continue on the A387 heading for Polperro. After about two miles you will pass West Waylands Caravan Park and there is a red phone box on your left. You then need to take the next right turn down the A3359 to Pelynt. Take this turn and stay on the main road for three quarters of a mile. After three quarters of a mile the road bends to the right and there are two lanes off this bend on the left hand side. Our lane is the 2nd one (there is a sign saying Polean Farm, but it is just after the turn).
