Rum Doodle
A little bit of luxury, a little bit of whimsy and a whole lot of fun! We've created something very different in a quiet corner of Windermere; not 'boutique' but a quintessentially English, vintage-styled haven. A place where you can truly relax and let us take care of you. Your luxury accommodation, which rivals that of many hotels, comes in the form of a sumptuous breakfast, a warm welcome with fabulous home baking, individual design and in the people looking after you.

Our philosophy is simple; to help you create such wonderful memories that you'll want return to our rather special B&B again and again! We had a lovely stay at Rum Doodle over the weekend. Arrived on the Friday and was greeted by the owner with refreshments. The room was lovely and stocked nicely with tea/coffee and biscuits. The breakfast was gorgeous and nothing was too much trouble.

We really loved the location of the hotel and we will definitely be booking again for next year. Would highly recommend. We had a wonderful few days in The Lakes staying at Rum Doodle.

Inspiration for the design was taken from the book 'The Ascent of Rum Doodle' - you'll find a copy in your room.
Although the comic adventure is set in the Himalayas, the author W.E. Bowman never travelled there.
Instead he took his inspiration from walking in the Alps and Lake District.
Named after the expedition leader, Binder is the first of our 9 unique and individually styled guest bedrooms.
Located on the ground floor, it serves as a comfortable Twin or Super King Room, with letter print wallpaper representative of Binder's journal of the comic adventure.
Even more special is the refurbished en-suite, perfect for relaxing after your own day as expedition leader.
The expedition 'route-finder' who is constantly lost & arrives late in the Himalayas after being 'unfortunately misdirected via Argentina.'.
Unlike Humphrey Jungle, you're unlikely to lose yourself on the return to your room.
Located on the ground floor, the room is light and bright, with white shutters over the original sliding sash windows and views over the garden and driveway.
Indulge yourself with a King sized 4 poster bed and a beautiful newly refurbished bathroom.
Breakfast in your room will no doubt set you up for a day of navigating.
Expedition photographer charged with documenting every aspect of the climb, only curiously he manages to ruin most of his film.
Located on the first floor at the front of the house, Shute is one of our largest rooms with impressive original sliding sash bay windows.
This is where you will sit to enjoy your morning breakfast, which is brought to your room.
The dcor is mirrored furniture and a King Sized 4 poster bed with curtains.
The expedition strong man who spends most of his time falling down crevasses and drinking the party's 'medicinal' supplies of champagne.
Burley is the teams commissariat, so it's fitting that he's found his way to the top of the house.
This attic room has 2 large opening velux roof windows, which make the rooms beautifully bright and provide a cooling breeze in the summer.
It's also a great view of the evening sky or listen to the seemingly, ever present Lake District rain.
The period free standing feature bath in the room is what this room is all about.
