Services
Snowgoose Mountain Centre & our on site hostel, bunkhouse and self catering accommodation have been run by John & Tina Cuthbertson for the past 30 odd years.
John is a highly experienced and qualified mountain and paddlesports instructor who offers guiding services, adventure activity holidays & courses with skills based instruction in canoeing, kayaking, sailing and mountain walking holidays.
Winter climbing courses, mountain guides for Ben Nevis and wilderness expeditions are highly acclaimed by our students through his inspirational outdoor skills training.
Our overall climate is pretty moderate with no real extremes.
While the weather can be changeable at any time of the year, it can also get quite hot or really cold on occasion.
January and February are the coldest months in Scotland generally, with the daytime maximum temperatures averaging around 5 °C to 7 °C but temperatures can drop to -15 °C or lower on occasion - which is great for the winter climbing and ski-ing.
In summer there are very long daylight hours and often no real darkness at night from late May - the end of June along with extended twilight hours.
Snowgoose Mountain Centre is ideally located in the heart of the west highlands of Scotland, some 100 miles north of Glasgow and 77 miles south of Inverness.
We are conveniently situated in the village of Corpach on the A830 " The Road to the Isles".
The village is some 4 miles to the north west from the town of Fort William which is one of the main touring and shopping hubs in the Scottish Highlands.
At the south west end of the Great Glen and Caledonian Canal & right at the start of the Road to the Isles, there is direct road access to Glenfinnan & the "Rough Bounds ", on to the white beaches of Arisaig, then on to the fishing town & ferry terminus at Mallaig (about 40 miles).
Corpach, some 4 miles from Fort William has long been an excellent base for a holiday or short break in the Highlands of Scotland.
Perhaps because some of the very best views of Ben Nevis are to be had from here it has been one base for climbing the Ben before the construction of the pony path and the establishment of the observatory on the summit in 1883.
On arrival our visitors often get out of their cars and say WoW!
We believe that this view of Ben Nevis and across the water to Fort William is pretty much as good as it gets.
