Ees Wyke is an elegant Georgian house in Near Sawrey, a small village in the English Lake District. Once the holiday home of Beatrix Potter it is set on high ground overlooking and adjacent to Esthwaite Water. Now an elegant and personally managed guest house in our 17th season, we offer luxury accommodation. We have won awards for our breakfasts and for many years have held the AA rosette for dinner.

We are recommended in the Good Hotel Guide. A comfortable stay is assured. The dining room and lounge together with most bedrooms have stunning views across the Lake to the fells of Coniston Old Man, the Langdale Pikes and the extensive woodland of Grizedale Forest. This is a most tranquil place and there are many walks and strolls from the house.

We are just a short walk from Hill Top Farm where Beatrix Potter made her home and wrote many of her Peter Rabbit books. Our rooms are the perfect place to unwind after a day walking of touring the stunning scenery of The English Lakes. Our first but definitely not last visit to this wonderful hotel.
Services
The author, Beatrix Potter, stayed at Ees Wyke on several occasions when the family rented the house as a holiday home.
The house was then known as Lakesfield.
Later she purchased nearby Hill Top Farm, the setting for six of her books of which the first was "The Tales of Peter Rabbit".
We know from her letters to her publisher that she stayed here while editing "The Tales of Peter Rabbit".
Ees Wyke remained a private home until it was converted into a guest house.
With comfort, care and good food it has gone from strength to strength and now receives commendations in all the principal guides.
The breakfast menu features locally made sausage and dry cured bacon from our butcher and homemade bread.
The generous buffet table has a selection of cereals, freshly squeezed juices, compotes, porage and freshly baked croissants.
We have received The Automobile Association award for breakfast.

Starting from the front door, down the drive and turn right and continue past the Tower Bank Arms.
Take the footpath on the right which runs parallel to the road.
At the path junction head straight on and follow this in the direction of St Peter's Church.
At the road turn right and follows this to High Cunsey.
A very minor road.
I wish I hadn't said that as now you are walking down it and the traffic is a kin to the M6 on Friday night.
At the T junction turn left and on the left hand bend in the road turn right over the stile and on to the footpath which is marked and by a driveway.
