School House Cottage Within the picturesque Lake District village of Hawkshead, School House Cottage offers you a luxury bed and breakfast in a tranquil setting. Idealy situated whether you are walkers, cyclists, keen anglers wanting to fish on near by Esthwaite water or simply happy to enjoy a good book in peaceful surroundings. We also offer guests private parking and access to our lock up garage for bikes or small boats.

Stephen and Sharon look forward to meeting you with a warm and friendly welcome and to help ensure your break is a relaxing one. A small but also very welcoming establishment with lots of history, comfort, and amiable hosts that really look after all your whims and wants. Stayed with Sharon and Steve for the second time this year and we were not disappointed.

Hawkshead is a lovely quaint village and the School House Cottage compliments your stay with excellent hospitality and food. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. It was a pleasure to stay at the School House Cottage. Run by great and pleasant people, so friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Where you can look out on to the lovely manicured garden There?s a real sense of occasion to the experience, as we bring a freshly filled teapot and a gleaming silver cake stand to your table, laden with sandwiches, exquisite handmade cakes and freshly baked scones, along with fruity preserves and thick clotted cream. Traditional Afternoon Tea is served from 1pm in the pavilion tea at a cost of 14.95 per person. A delicious sandwich selection: Scottish smoked salmon and cream cheese, roast ham, roast free-range chicken breast and egg mayonnaise & cress.

read more › Wray Castle is a Victorian neo-gothic building at Claife in the English county of Cumbria. The house and grounds have belonged to the National Trust since 1929, but the house has only recently opened to the public on a regular basis. The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction can be found in Windermere. The attraction as won a number of awards and is One of the Top Ten most Popular Visitor Centres and the centre is a place for all the family young and old. Within the centre you will discover Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle Duck and all their friends in a magical indoor recreation of Beatrix Potter classic tales, with the sights, sounds and also the smells of the countryside.

read more › When you arrive in Hawkshead, find the entrance to the Grammar School. Drive through the Grammar School wrought iron gates (our sign is on the left hand sidegate post). Do an immediate left down the beech hedge pass the garages and park up facing the bank. Walk up to the small gate, this will take you round to the front of the cottage.
