Storrs Gate House is a lovely 19th Century detached Lake District Country House bed and breakfast, nestling in its own secluded, spacious gardens, opposite Lake Windermere. A leisurely, picturesque 15-minute stroll will take you along the lakeshore into Bowness Bay and village. Being only half a mile from Bowness-on-Windermere, our location is convenient for all the amenities, yet out of the hustle and bustle of the busy resort.

There is complimentary, private parking within our grounds. Our location is ideal for walking, cycling, sailing or simply exploring the Lakeland villages, tracing the footsteps of William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and enjoying spectacular scenery. Local and home-made produce are a feature of our traditional and varied English Breakfast menu. Free-range eggs from Bannerigg Farm in Windermere, hand-made large Cumberland sausage and AA grade bacon are supplied by the award winning local butchers Plumgarths.

Enjoy our home-made produce which include jam, marmalade, yoghurt and home-baked fruit muffins.

Easily accesible from the M6 motorway, Storrs Gate House is the perfect destination for your break in the Lakes.
The Hawkshead Ferry is a "stones-throw" from our doorstep, affording easy access to the far side of Lake Windermere and giving opportunity to explore areas such as Coniston Water, Tarn Hows and Grizedale Forest to name but a few.
Ambleside and Grasmere can be reached within half an hours drive while lake cruises from Bowness Pier offer a tour of the many islands on Lake Windermere or trips along the Lake to Lakeside and Waterhead.
We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
We were in room 5 in the eaves of the house, the room was lovely, clean and quiet and more than big enough for what we needed.
Glen and Susann made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice on offer.
Beautiful guest house, perfect location, delicious breakfasts and lovely hosts, Susann and Glen, who after just 3 days felt like friends.
Sad to leave, but will be returning very soon!
