Fenton Tower
Fenton Tower is a magnificent, fortified 16th Century tower located just 20 miles east of Edinburgh between Gullane and North Berwick, which has been meticulously restored to provide luxury accommodation for up to 13 people. Fenton Tower is a unique place to stay that combines state-of-the-art facilities with the informality of a private home. With its dedicated staff it offers outstanding service and cuisine in a secluded and secure environment.

With seven bedrooms all individually styled and luxuriously appointed, a great hall and library to relax in and a grand dining room to share and enjoy memorable meals with friends and family.

Set amongst rolling countryside, surrounded by many famous golf courses including Muirfield, North Berwick and Gullane, Fenton Tower is the perfect base for your Scottish golf trip. If you prefer shooting or fishing we can arrange partridge and pheasant shoots for up to eight guns on our private estate, and fly fishing on the nearby rivers.

Fenton Tower's location was originally chosen because it afforded views in every direction, so that you would have early warning of an attack, while also being sheltered from the elements on the side of Kingston Hill.
There has been a fortified tower on this site since the 11th century.
To the north of Fenton Tower there is a medieval burial site and the remains of the foundations of one of the earliest Christian chapels in Scotland.
Patrick Whytelaw, son of Lord Ruthven, constructed the current building around 1550, a typical fortified tower of the time.
An impressive vaulted dining room with large walnut dining table which can accommodate up to 32 guests for candle lit dinners.
This atmospheric room is perfect for celebrations, wedding parties or just an intimate dinner with friends.
However you choose to use it, each meal will be served on our hand-painted china for a truly exceptional experience.
A hearty breakfast is served here each morning, including fresh pastries, fruits and cereals, as well as our renowned full Scottish cooked breakfast to set you up for your day ahead.
The Carmichael Suite enjoys a triple aspect of North, East and South.
Your bed is an Italian silver-gilt double bed frame, soft and incredibly comfortable.
If you can bear to leave the bed, there are period chairs, from which to admire the views or simply sit by the fireplace and have a complimentary drink.
The bathroom adjacent is very large and has a double french basin, a free standing cast iron bath and a generous walk in shower.
Run a bath using the Penhaligon's bath oils, dim the lights and enjoy a glass of champagne in front of the fireplace.
The Stewart Suite enjoys a triple aspect of North, East and South.
It offers you a super king-size bed which can convert to two single beds, with a plaid-covered daybed at the foot.
Painted 19th Century pot cupboards serve as bedside tables, while an immense Swedish armoire creates wardrobe space.
The bathroom boasts original French double basins from a Montmartre house.
The Erskine Suite offers you a super king-size bed which can convert to two single beds, complete with a small double redassier bench at the foot.
The views are to the North and West.
The TV is hidden in an 18th Century linen press.
There's also an ample Dressing Room, an unusual ebonised leather-topped desk, and plenty of room to relax.
The bathroom features a fully-restored French antique copper bath, big enough to swim in!
There's also a shower, beautiful traditional style basin and luxurious dressing gowns for each guest to use.
