Redfern's Cottage, Museum of Uttoxeter Life has recently re-opened after undergoing a complete refurbishment funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. We have eight new galleries to explore in the newly refurbished museum and our community life zone where you can enjoy a cup of Fair Trade tea or coffee or a snack. Discover our fascinating collection relating to Uttoxeter's rich history; including social history, arts and artifacts and local history archives.

Services
By Car: Uttoxeter is situated in East Staffordshire, 15 miles east of Burton-on-Trent and 12 miles west of Stoke-on-Trent so is easily accessible by exiting the M6 at Junction 15 or the M1 at Junction 23a then taking the A50 towards Uttoxeter.
By bus: There are regular buses from Burton-on-Trent and Stoke-on-Trent bus stations which stop at many of the small villages and towns on route.

By train: There are hourly trains from Stoke-on-Trent and Derby stations to Uttoxeter Railway station and then there is a 10-15 minute walk to the museum.
Join us for our Uttoxeter inspired events programme from lectures and performances to walking tours and re-enactments taking place at Redfern's Cottage and in Uttoxeter.
Plus during the school holidays we'll have a range of drop-in activities perfect for families.

This walk around Uttoxeter town centre will focus upon the many pubs and inns that were once a major part of the life of the town.
Redfern's Cottage provides a variety of learning opportunities designed to be fun and engaging for everyone.
We aim to engage visitors with Uttoxeter's history within a global context through our collections of artifacts and archives.
We are currently redesigning our education programme for schools, home educated groups and other educational and social groups.
Our new programme will be based around National Curriculum guidelines on history for Key Stages 1 and 2, beginning with Uttoxeter's Anglo- Saxon connections and covering key periods through to the late Victorians.

Redfern's Cottage holds many fascinating objects that feature a link to Uttoxeter's past.
Many of these are on display in our museum galleries but the majority are held in our store.
Our collection of documents and photographs is unique and covers a geographical area of Uttoxeter and villages within a 10 mile radius.
We have many rare and unusual documents such as the town poor law and settlement records as well as wills, apprenticeships and other original deeds and legal documents.
At Redfern's Cottage we thrive on the support of our volunteers, without them we wouldn't be where we are today.
If you care about the future of this wonderful building and collection there are a number of ways you can volunteer.
Our exciting volunteer roles mean you can get involved in all aspects of the museum, whether you have one or twenty hours a week to give.
Membership costs from as little as 5 per year and entitles you to free entry all year round and discounts to some events, at least one free, catered members' event per year and regular updates on our progress.
