Lockholme Bed and Breakfast offers stunning views, delightful rooms and a very warm atmosphere. It is the perfect base for many excellent walking and cycling opportunities in all directions! The amazing surrounding countryside, with its history and hidden gems, are all on our doorstep. If you love castles, scenic walks, adventure, then its all here!

Lockholme Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful Victorian house, less than 10 minutes' walk into the thriving market town of Kirkby Stephen. This is Cumbria's first 'Walkers are Welcome' town. Wainwright's famous Coast to Coast Path runs past our door. Kirkby Stephen is a fascinating ancient market town enjoying a lovely position between The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Park.

It is the ideal Gateway for visiting the unspoiled Eden Valley, The Howgills, Teesdale and North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Take in the views at the front of the house! Look out to the iconic Nine Standards Rigg while enjoying your complimentary welcome tea and cake.

This was the question we asked ourselves when our children grew up and spread their wings to find their own life adventures.
We felt we were too young to just settle for slippers and the odd day trip out.
But a little too old to start something new and exciting?
Or were we?
So, after about 5 years of constant research and looking, we found Lockholme!
The most beautiful Victorian home, full of stories of its own, just needing a little bit of passion, vision and hard work to bring it back to life!
What a special place Lockholme is where do I start?
I decided to book for my husband's birthday as we love the surrounding area.
When we arrived, we were greeted and made to feel special by Chrissie, who made us a cup of tea and had made Dan a birthday cake!
Our room was gorgeous, full of special touches like chocolates and a greeting card also, importantly, spotlessly clean.
We ate out locally and really enjoyed the recommended pub food.
After a 'wet' walk (well it is February) we were able to dry our coats and boots off in the drying room at Lockholme which, for walkers, is a huge bonus.
This bright room is named after the iconic Nine Standards Rigg, with fabulous views towards the open fells of the North Pennines.
The Nine Standards is decorated to reflect its Victorian character with a contemporary twist.
Here you can relax and reflect on your day of adventure!
Beautifully handmade curtains frame the large double-glazed window, with a blackout blind to keep the room darker if you prefer.
There are two stunning pieces of art on the walls depicting the Nine, which can be seen directly from the window!
The bedroom is stylish and elegant, with beautiful antique furniture.
Handmade curtains frame the large double-glazed window, adding a contemporary twist and the blackout blind can keep the room darker, if you wish.
Again, we are lucky to have beautiful watercolours completing the room, by our local artist.
The ensuite has a generous shower cubicle, washbasin and WC.
Complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and luxury 'Bath House' toiletries are provided along with a TV, hairdryer and wifi.
At Lockholme we aim to make your stay extra special, in a relaxing friendly atmosphere.
Our rooms with shower ensuites, are beautifully decorated, reflecting the Victorian character and charm, and they are well equipped with a hairdryer, free WIFI throughout, tea and coffee making facilities and luxury complimentary toiletries from The Bath House, Sedbergh.
Upon arrival, look forward to delicious homemade cake with tea or coffee and relax either in your room, the Guest Breakfast Room, with a real coal fire and fabulous views of the fells and The Nine Standards Rigg, or the sunny private rear garden, knowing that any wet boots and clothes will be taken care of!
